VOCALS/GUITAR

Jake Burns is the the primary songwriter and vocalist of SLF, and the heart and soul of SLF. After SLF split in '83, he formed a group called Jake Burns and The Big Wheel, and later worked as a producer at BBC Radio One. Jake released his first solo album, "Drinkin Again" in March of 2006. His musical influences include The Clash, Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, Dr. Feelgood, and Bob Marley. He played a supporting role in the television movie Iris in the Traffic--Ruby in the Rain, (in which SLF performed one song,) and he's been a guest on several quiz shows over the years. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he now lives in Chicago IL.
VOCALS/BASS

Ali McMordie returned to SLF in early '06. Ali played bass from the beginning of SLF until the break up in '83. Ali played on the first few years of reunion tours, but decided not to stay with the band permanently at that time. In '93 he organized the Peace Together album, to raise money to fund cross-community cultural activities for young people in Northern Ireland. He now lives in New York City and has been tour managing for the "technopunk" artist Moby and other international groups. See Discography for Ali's other musical involvements.

Bruce Foxton was SLF's bassist from 1990 to January 2006. Bruce came to prominence as the bass player for The Jam. He first worked with Jake and Dolphin on the Go West demos in '83. He was contacted in '89 just before SLF was scheduled to tour Japan. Bruce joined on short notice, and has been the bass player ever since, playing on the Flags and Emblems, Get a Life, and the new Tinderbox album. In '94 Bruce coauthored a book with Rick Buckler called, The Jam: Our Story, and was involved in the creation of The Jam 5 CD Boxset, Direction, Reaction, Creation. He and Jake co-wrote music for several CD-rom games.

VOCALS/GUITAR

Ian McCallum is currently playing guitar with SLF. A recording artist in his own right, he recorded an as yet unreleased album titled United that was produced by Jake. That album has been put on hold, and a newer album has just been released, titled Take Me As I Am.

Dave Sharp, best known as the guitarist for The Alarm, toured Europe with SLF in '94. Soon after that he moved to the U.S., and has lived in New Orleans for several years. He's currently recording a new solo album.

Henry Cluney was one of the original members of SLF, and was in all incarnations of the group until '93. Always a fan of heavy metal as well as punk, (and a huge T-rex fan) Henry established himself as a rock dj in Belfast, and had a regular show there for several years. Henry moved to the States in '97, to live with his new wife Carol, in Rochester, Minnesota. They were married in 1998. Henry is still playing and recording.

DRUMS

Steve Grantley is SLF's drummer. His first gig with SLF was on March 17 of '97 at the Barrowlands in Glasgow. Steve has a history with the band, as the drummer for Jake Burns and the Big Wheel. Steve's currently also drumming for the Alarm reunion tour.

Dolphin Taylor met SLF when he was in the Tom Robinson Band. He joined SLF in '82, playing on the £1-10 or Less EP and the Now Then album. After SLF broke up, Dolphin worked on the Go West demos with Jake and Bruce, then drummed for Spear of Destiny. He returned to SLF for the reformation in '87 and stayed until the end of '96.

Jim Reilly was SLF's drummer from '79 to '81, playing on the Nobody's Heroes and Go For It albums. In '81 he moved to New Orleans and joined the Red Rockers. He later moved to Boston and formed a band called the Rain Dogs. He's now back in Belfast.

Brian Faloon was the first drummer for SLF, and played on the Inflammable Material album. He quit the band in late '78, inspiring the lyrics to "Wait and See." He lived for years in Scotland, but is now back in Belfast.

  MANAGERS

Jake Burns is now managing SLF. You may have heard of him!

Ian Wilson was SLF's manager from '97- early '00. He previously managed The Alarm from 1981-1988, and knew Bruce and Jake from the days when the Alarm played support slots for both The Jam and SLF.

Russell Emanuel was SLF's manager from the time they reformed in '87 until early '97. He left to give his full attention to the music production company he manages, along with Dolphin, that provides music for radio and advertising.
